2 AAC 07.810 - Holidays
(a) The following days are observed as
holidays for state employees who are in permanent, provisional or probationary
status:
(1) the first of January, known as New
Year's Day;
(2) the third Monday of
January, known as Martin Luther King Jr.'s Birthday;
(3) the third Monday in February, known as
President's Day;
(4) the last
Monday in March, known as Seward's Day;
(5) the last Monday in May, known as Memorial
Day;
(6) the Fourth of July, known
as Independence Day;
(7) the first
Monday in September, known as Labor Day;
(8) the 18th of October, known as Alaska
Day;
(9) the 11th of November,
known as Veterans' Day;
(10) the
fourth Thursday in November, known as Thanksgiving Day;
(11) the 25th of December, known as Christmas
Day;
(12) every day designated by
public proclamation by the President of the United States as a national holiday
or by the governor of the state as a legal holiday; an executive order limited
to closing federal offices does not constitute a public proclamation of a
national holiday.
(b) If
a holiday listed in (a) of this section falls on a Sunday, the following Monday
shall be observed as a holiday.
(c)
If a holiday listed in (a) of this section falls on a Saturday, the preceding
Friday shall be observed as a holiday.
(d) All employees may be directed to work on
a day designated to be observed as a holiday, except for New Year's Day,
Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. If an
employee is directed to work on a day designated to be observed as a holiday,
the employee's personal leave account shall be credited with an additional day
of leave.
(e) For purposes of this
section, "observed" means a day off from work with pay.
