2 AAC 90.110 - Reports required

(a) A driver who is involved in a motor vehicle crash that results in bodily injury or death or property damage to a person in excess of $501 shall submit the completed certificate of insurance report required by AS 28.22.021 and 2 AAC 90.510 to the department within 15 days from the date of the crash.

(b) A driver who is involved in a motor vehicle crash that results in bodily injury or death or property damage to a person in excess of $2, 000 shall submit a written crash report to the department within 10 days from the date of the crash, unless the crash was investigated by a peace officer.

(c) A crash report must be submitted on a crash report form available from a local police department or the Department of Public Safety, as required under AS 28.35.080(c). Except as provided in AS 28.35.080(f), a crash report required under AS 28.35.080 must be submitted directly to the division's main office by the person who prepared the report. If mailed, the mailing of the crash report must be postmarked within 10 days from the date of the crash.

(d) The department will require additional reports or information that the department determines are necessary to properly process the report and determine the necessary action to be taken. The supplemental reports must be returned to the department within 14 calendar days after the date the request for the supplemental information was mailed by the department.
