Iowa Code r. 875-91.4 - Location of discharge piping outlets
The discharge from safety valves, safety relief valves, blowoff pipes and other outlets shall comply with the following:
(1) The discharge piping terminates at a safe
point of discharge.
(2) When the
safety valve or temperature and pressure relief valve discharge is piped away
from the object to a safe point of discharge, provision is made for properly
draining the piping.
(3) The size
of the discharge piping is not reduced from the size of the relief
valve.
(4) All discharge piping is
comprised of appropriate metallic material identified in ASME Section
II.
