Mich. Admin. Code R. 325.22112 - Patient destination; transporting agencies
Rule 112.
(1) An
ambulance operation, both ground and rotary, shall transport an emergency
patient only to an organized emergency department located in and operated by 1
of the following:
(a) A hospital licensed
under part 215 of the code, MCL
333.21501 to
333.21571.
(b) A freestanding surgical outpatient
facility licensed under part 208 of the code, MCL
333.20801 to
333.20821, that operates a
service for treating emergency patients 24-hours-a-day, 7-days-a-week, and
complies with medical control authority protocols.
(c) An off-campus emergency department of a
hospital licensed under part 215 of the code, MCL
333.21501 to
333.21571, if the off-campus
emergency department is available for treating emergency patients
24-hours-a-day, 7-days-a-week, complies with medical control authority
protocols, and has obtained provider-based status under
42 CFR
413.65.
(2) An ambulance operation may transport to
an alternate destination requested by the medical control authority and
approved by the department under field study status.
