Rule 401.
(1)
Private water systems shall be in compliance with
R
325.10101 et seq. of the Michigan Administrative Code.
A bacteriological report confirming water quality shall be required during the
initial inspection and every 2 years thereafter. Group homes that use a
community-approved water system need not be in compliance with this
requirement.
(2) Hot and cold
running water that is under pressure shall be provided. A licensee shall
maintain the hot water temperature for a resident's use at a range of 105
degrees Fahrenheit to 120 degrees Fahrenheit at the faucet.
(3) All sewage shall be disposed of in a
public sewer system or, in the absence thereof, in a manner that is approved by
the health authority.
(4) All
garbage and rubbish that contains food wastes shall be kept in leakproof,
nonabsorbent containers. The containers shall be kept covered with
tight-fitting lids and shall be removed from the home daily and from the
premises at least weekly.
(5) An
insect, rodent, or pest control program shall be maintained as necessary and
shall be carried out in a manner that continually protects the health of
residents.
(6) Poisons, caustics,
and other dangerous materials shall be stored and safeguarded in nonresident
areas and in non-food preparation storage areas.
(7) Each habitable room shall have direct
outside ventilation by means of windows, louvers, air-conditioning, or
mechanical ventilation. During fly season, from April to November, each door,
openable window, or other opening to the outside that is used for ventilation
purposes shall be supplied with a standard screen of not less than 16
mesh.
(8) Hand-washing facilities
that are provided in both the kitchen and bathroom areas shall include hot and
cold water, soap, and individual towels, preferably paper towels.
(9) When a resident is discharged, his or her
room and its contents shall be thoroughly cleaned. Blankets and spreads shall
be sanitized.
