N.H. Admin. Code § Int 102.01 - Composition and Functions
(a) The board of
licensure for interpreters for the deaf and hard of hearing consists of 9
members appointed by the governor and council, pursuant to RSA
326-1:3.
(b) The board is empowered
to:
(1) Accept applications for licensure, and
approve or deny such applications;
(2) Approve and enforce performance
requirements, including education and examination standards, for
interpreters;
(3) Suspend or revoke
licenses and conduct investigations and hearings regarding the denial,
suspension, revocation, and renewal of licenses;
(4) Adopt a code of professional conduct
standards and a code of professional principles or licensed
interpreters;
(5) Renew licenses
for interpreters;
(6) Maintain a
directory of all licensed interpreters for the deaf and hard of
hearing;
(7) Update, publish, and
offer for sale to the public at a fee to be equal to the cost of reproduction
the directory of all licensed interpreters for the deaf and hard of
hearing;
(8) Accept written
complaints from the public against licensed interpreters and applicants for
licenses; conduct necessary investigations of such complaints; and publicize
the complaint procedure;
(9) Accept
funds from federal and other non-state sources to be used for performing its
duties;
(10) Cooperate with the New
Hampshire Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, Inc., the New Hampshire
Association of the Deaf, Self Help for the Hard of Hearing of New Hampshire,
the New Hampshire League for the Hard of Hearing, the department of education,
bureau of vocational rehabilitation, and interpreter referral services to
provide access to the services of interpreters to persons communicating with
deaf and hard of hearing persons;
(11) Report to the governor and council
annually on the activities conducted by the board;
(12) Recommend to the governor and council
that any board member be removed and replaced for malfeasance, misfeasance, or
nonfeasance pertaining to the duties of the board; and
(13) Adopt rules under RSA 541-A, in
accordance with RSA 326-1:5.
