Ohio Admin. Code 3701-84-34 - Adult cardiac catheterization service performance measures
(A)
Each adult
cardiac catheterization service should maintain a volume of cardiac
catheterization procedures sufficient to ensure the safety and quality of
procedures performed at the service and individual cardiologist
proficiency.
(B)
No minimum cardiologist volume is recommended, however,
the combination of high mortality and low volume will trigger a thorough
internal review of an individual physician by the adult cardiac catheterization
service.
(C)
Volume may be considered by the director in conjunction
with other indicators of quality and not as the sole indicator of service
performance. An adult cardiac catheterization service with significant rates of
in hospital complications, emergent transfers, or mortality may be subject to
an independent third party review, including individual case review, by a third
party approved by the director . The service will be responsible for:
(1)
Providing a copy
of the review to the director ; and
(2)
Payment of any
fees associated with the independent third party review to the provider of the
review.
