Utah Admin. Code R277-800-5 - Assessment of USDB Students Served in LEAs of Residence
(1) An appropriate specialist shall assess a
student who may be deaf, hard of hearing, blind, visually impaired, or
deafblind using statewide assessment results and in compliance with Board rule
and state and federal law.
(2) The
USDB shall establish an assessment policy and guidelines to implement required
assessments, which address:
(a) appropriate,
complete, and timely evaluations of students;
(b) procedures for administration of
assessments in addition to those required by the law, as determined by IEPs,
Section 504 accommodation plans, and individual teachers;
(c) complete and accurate required
assessments available to eligible students consistent with state and LEA
assessment timelines and availability of materials for non-disabled
students;
(d) staff professional
development and preparation on appropriate administration of assessments and
reporting of assessment results; and
(e) procedures to ensure appropriate
interpretation and use of assessments and results for parents and USDB
personnel.
