Utah Admin. Code R381-100-21 - Animals
(1) The provider
shall inform each parent of the kinds of animals allowed at the
facility.
(2) The provider shall
ensure that there is no animal on the premises that:
(a) has a history of biting even one
individual;
(b) has a history of
dangerous, attacking, or aggressive behavior; or
(c) is naturally aggressive.
(3) The provider shall ensure that
any animal at the facility is clean and free of any obvious disease or health
problem that could adversely affect a child.
(4) The provider shall ensure that there is
no animal or animal equipment in food preparation or eating areas.
(5) The provider shall ensure that no child
younger than five years old assists with the cleaning of any animal or animal
cage, pen, or equipment.
(6) If a
school-age child helps in the cleaning of animals or animal equipment, the
provider shall ensure that the child washes their hands immediately after
cleaning the animal or equipment.
(7) The provider shall ensure that each child
and staff wash their hands immediately after playing with or touching any
reptile or amphibian.
(8) The
provider shall ensure that any dog, cat, or ferret that the facility houses
have current rabies vaccinations.
(9) The provider shall keep current animal
vaccination records on-site for review by OL.

(6) If school-age children help in the cleaning of animals or animal equipment, the provider shall ensure that the children wash their hands immediately after cleaning the animal or equipment.
(7) The provider shall ensure that children and staff wash their hands immediately after playing with or touching reptiles and amphibians.
(8) The provider shall ensure that dogs, cats, and ferrets that the facility houses have current rabies vaccinations.
(9) The provider shall keep current animal vaccination records on-site for review by the department .
