Utah Admin. Code R432-101-14 - Special Treatment Procedures
(1)
The license shall develop policy regarding the use of special treatment
procedures to include the use of seclusion and restraint in accordance with
Section R432-101-23.
(2) The licensee shall ensure special
treatment policies and procedures address:
(a) the use of convulsive therapy including
electroconvulsive therapy;
(b) the
use of psychosurgery or other surgical procedures for the intervention or
alteration of a mental, emotional or behavioral disorder;
(c) the use of behavior modification with
painful stimuli;
(d) the use of
unusual, investigational and experimental drugs;
(e) the use of drugs associated with abuse
potential and those having substantial risk or undesirable side
effects;
(f) an explanation as to
whether the hospital will conduct research projects involving inconvenience or
risk to the patient; and
(g)
involuntary medication administration for emergent and ongoing
treatment.
