Utah Admin. Code R432-16-8 - Service Requirements
(1) The licensee
shall provide a nurse station and have space for charting, storage, medication
security, and administrative activities.
(2) The licensee shall ensure the following
service requirements:
(a) there is a toilet
room with a hand washing facility for staff is provided and may be
unisex;
(b) a hand washing facility
is located immediately adjacent to the nursing station and the drug
distribution station;
(c) a
medicine preparation room or a self-contained medicine dispensing unit is
provided for 24-hour distribution of medications, if a medical cart is used it
shall be under visual control of staff;
(d) a clean workroom or clean holding room is
provided for patient care items, as follows;
(i) there is a counter, a hand washing
facility, and a storage facility; and
(ii) the work counter and hand washing
facility may be omitted in a room used only for storage and holding, as part of
a larger system for distribution of clean and sterile supply
materials;
(e) a soiled
supply workroom is provided and contains:
(i)
a clinical sink:
(ii) a hand
washing sink;
(iii) a work
counter;
(iv) waste receptacles;
and
(v) a linen
receptacle;
(f) a hand
washing sink, clinical sink, and work counter may be omitted in a room used
only for temporary holding of soiled, bagged material;
(g) in a small hospice inpatient facility
soiled workroom, accommodation is made for cleaning and sanitizing patient
service items;
(h) clean linen is
stored in a separate closet or room as follows;
(i) if a closed cart is used for clean linen
storage, it shall be stored in a room with a self-closing door;
(ii) storage in an alcove in a corridor is
prohibited; and
(iii) clean linen
may be stored in the clean work room or a clean holding room;
(j) a patient bathing facility is
provided in each hospice unit at a ratio of one bathing facility for every
eight beds not otherwise served by a bathing facility within an individual
patient room;
(k) each patient
bathtub or shower is in a separate room or enclosure large enough to ensure
privacy and to allow staff to assist with bathing, drying, and
dressing;
(l) a toilet and sink are
provided at each common bathing area; and
(m) an equipment storage room with a minimum
area of five square feet for each licensed bed, but no less than 30 square
feet, for portable equipment is provided.
(3) In a small hospice inpatient facility,
accommodation shall be made for storage of portable equipment.
