Utah Admin. Code R432-750-33 - Laundry Services
(1) The licensee
shall provide laundry services to meet the needs of the patients.
(2) If the licensee contracts for laundry
services, the licensee shall obtain a signed, dated agreement detailing any
services provided.
(3) Each
licensee that provides in-house laundry services shall ensure:
(a) clean bed linens are changed as often as
necessary, but no less than twice each week;
(b) laundry equipment is in good
repair;
(c) a supply of clean linen
is maintained to meet the needs of the patients;
(d) personnel handle, store, process, and
transport linens in a manner to minimize contamination by air-borne particles
and to prevent the spread of infection;
(e) soiled linen and clothing are stored
separate from clean linen and not allowed to accumulate in the facility;
and
(f) the laundry area is
separate and apart from any room where food is stored, prepared, or
served.
