Utah Admin. Code R432-9-3 - General Construction Ancillary Support Facilities
(1) The licensee shall ensure that the
facility is compliant with Rule R432-4 with the following modifications:
(a) corridors in patient use areas shall be a
minimum eight feet wide;
(b)
handrails are located on both sides of hallways and corridors used by
patients;
(c) the top of the rail
is 34-38 inches above the floor, except for areas serving children and other
special care areas; and
(d) ends of
handrails and grab bars are constructed to prevent persons from snagging their
clothes.
(2) Any
fixtures in toilet and bathroom areas, except those in the activities for daily
living unit, are wheelchair accessible with wheelchair turning space within the
room.
(3) Oxygen and suction
systems are installed to serve 25% of patient beds.
(a) Installation is in accordance with Rule
R432-4.
(b) Systems serving
additional patient beds are optional.
(4) The licensee shall ensure an on-site
emergency generator is provided and the following services are connected to the
emergency generator:
(a) life safety
branch;
(b) critical
branch;
(c) equipment
system;
(d) telephone;
(e) nurse call;
(f) heating equipment necessary to provide
adequate heated space to house any patients under emergency
conditions;
(g) one duplex
convenience outlet in each patient room;
(h) one duplex convenience outlet at each
nurse station; and
(i) duplex
convenience outlets in the emergency heated area at a ratio of one for every
ten patients.
