Utah Admin. Code R510-302-3 - Principles
(1) Adult Protective Services (APS) shall
respect the lifestyle that is knowingly and voluntarily chosen by the
vulnerable adult.
(2) A vulnerable
adult with capacity to consent has the right to self-determination.
(3) Services provided are voluntary unless
court ordered.
(4) Services
provided should be the least restrictive possible.
(5) Services provided shall be
community-based unless community-based services are unavailable.
(6) Adult Protective Services shall encourage
a vulnerable adult's family and community to take responsibility for providing
necessary services.
(7) Adult
Protective Services shall coordinate and cooperate with other agencies to
protect vulnerable adults.
(8)
Adult Protective Services shall treat vulnerable adults and others in a
courteous, dignified and professional manner.
