Utah Admin. Code R708-55-6 - Program Information Review
(1) Upon
receipt of the foreign jurisdiction's program information, the division
official shall review the foreign jurisdiction's program information to ensure
it meets or exceeds the division's program standards.
(2) The minimum standards for program
approval include the following:
(a) students
must have finished at least:
(i) 18 hours of
in person classroom instruction; and
(ii) 6 hours of behind the wheel
instruction.
(b)
instructors and examiners must:
(i) be
regulated and certified by the foreign jurisdiction's government licensing
authority;
(ii) have met the
educational and training standards to act officially on behalf of the foreign
jurisdiction's licensing authority; and
(iii) have passed a criminal background
check.
(3) The
division official may opt to deny a program even if the minimum standards have
been met if there are other aspects of the program that do not align with the
division's mission to promote public safety.
