Utah Admin. Code R909-2-6 - Tire Load Provisions
(1) In
circumstances where weight limitations are based on tire width, the
manufacturer's size, as indicated on the sidewall will be used to determine the
maximum tire width:
(a) for non-permitted or
legal vehicles, no tire may exceed 600 pounds per inch of tire width as
indicated on the sidewall;
(b) tire
loading on vehicles requiring a Divisible Overweight Permit must not exceed 500
pounds per inch of tire width for tires 11 inches wide or greater;
(c) tires that are greater than 11 inches but
less than 14 inches must have a weight limit not to exceed 5,500
pounds;
(d) tires less than 11
inches wide may not exceed 450 pounds per inch of tire width; and
(e) except as provided in Section
R909-2-6, single axle loading
may not exceed 20,000 pounds, and tandem axle loading must not exceed 34,000
pounds.
