debiting

Debiting refers to the act of making a subtraction from an account to make a payment.

Debit differs from credit as debit requires funds to be available in an account at the time of the transaction. For example, buying an item from the store with a debit card is a form of debiting. In accounting, debit refers to the money flowing into an account, and credit refers to the money flowing out of an account.
