drawee

A drawee is the party directed by the drawer to pay a set amount to the payee. A drawee is usually the bank holding the drawer’s account.

For example, Dan writes a check to Sarah for $100: Dan is the drawer (the person writing the check), Sarah is the payee (the person receiving the money), and Dan’s bank is the drawee (the one that pays the $100 from Dan’s account when Sarah deposits or cashes the check).
