Utah Admin. Code R309-525-4 - General
(1) Treatment plants used for the
purification of surface water supplies or ground water supplies under direct
influence of surface water must conform to the requirements given herein. The
plants shall have, as a minimum, facilities for flash mixing of coagulant
chemicals, flocculation, sedimentation, filtration and disinfection.
(2) The overall design of a water treatment
facility must be carefully examined to assure the compatibility of all devices
and processes. The design of treatment processes and devices shall depend on an
evaluation of the nature and quality of the particular water to be treated. The
combined unit processes shall produce water meeting all established drinking
water standards as given in R309-200.
(3) Direct filtration may be acceptable and
rules governing this method are given in
R309-530-5.
(4) Refer to
R309-530-9 for policy with regards to novel water treatment equipment or techniques which
may depart from the requirements outlined herein.
