FAQ

What is Wex?
Wex is a collaboratively-edited legal dictionary and encyclopedia. It is intended for a broad audience of people, ranging from lawyers to law students to people who have no experience with the law!  No doubt purists will be quick to point out the differences between a dictionary and an encyclopedia. We deliberately blur the distinction, as we are interested in providing objective, useful material in a range of formats. (See [[wex:why_bother|Why bother?]].)

getting started as an author

For the time being, the ability to make and edit contributions is loosely limited to a pool of invited author/editors.

Starting out as a Wex author involves making choices about what to write and learning a few simple mechanics of editing. As a first step, you should make sure that your intended topic hasn't been covered already; this is easily done by [[wex:search|searching]]. You should also learn a little bit of the general [[wex:starting a new article|mechanics of editing]], with particular attention to linking to legal resources.
