supplemental pleadings

Supplemental pleadings are addenda pleadings that set forth transactions, occurrences, or events that have happened since the date of the pleading to be supplemented. Under Rule 15 of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP), courts may permit supplemental pleadings by motion with reasonable notice, even if the original pleading was defective in stating a claim or defense.

Supplemental pleadings are distinct from amended pleadings, which replace the original pleading and must be based on facts that existed at the time the original pleading was filed
