Constitución de la República del Ecuador (2008)

The Constitution of the Republic of Ecuador establishes the rights that all people, regardless of gender, shall enjoy. For example, Article 11.2 stipulates that no person may be discriminated against on the basis of gender, among other criteria. In accordance with Article 27, education must promote equality among men and women. Article 32 explains that the State guarantees health rights through permanent, timely, and non-exclusionary access to programs and services for integral, sexual, and reproductive healthcare.

Decreto Ejecutivo No. 620 (2007), erradicación de la violencia de género

Executive Decree No. 620 (2007), on national gender violence eradication.

This decree mandates certain governmental institutions to create and execute a national plan for the eradication of gender violence against children, adolescents, and adult women. With this plan, Ecuador seeks to uphold its constitutional obligations to guarantee the right to personal integrity and to prohibit inhumane treatment and acts of physical, psychological, or sexual violence.

Ley de Amparo Laboral de la Mujer (1996)

Law on Labor Protection of Women (1996)

This law establishes that Superior Courts must guarantee that women constitute at least 20% of all judge minister positions, and maintain that same minimum percentage among all judges, notaries, registrars, and other judicial officials. This ensures that a minimum of 20% of all high-level judicial positions and court staff in the Superior Courts are occupied by women.
